Coaching for Individual Leaders

Our mission is to help successful leaders achieve positive, long-term, measurable change in behaviour: for themselves, their people and their teams. Individual coaching is an effective method for achieving change in leadership behaviours.

80% of people who receive coaching report increased self-confidence.

Over 70% benefit from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills.

86% of companies report that they recouped their investment on coaching and more (source: ICF).

Typically, coaching is about momentum, identifying goals, removing obstacles, generating options, planning action, and actioning the plan.

The coach works with the client to achieve their goals. The coach helps to identify talents and strengths of the client and to value them and then use these to approach areas of challenge.

The Personal Benefits of Coaching

The personal benefits of coaching are as wide-ranging as the individuals involved. Numerous clients report that coaching positively impacted their careers as well as their lives by helping them to:

  • Establish and take action towards achieving goals
  • Become more self-reliant
  • Gain more job and life satisfaction
  • Contribute more effectively to the team and the organisation
  • Take greater responsibility and accountability for actions and commitments
  • Work more easily and productively with others (boss, direct reports, peers)
  • Communicate more effectively

The Benefits of Coaching in Organisations

  • Empowers individuals and encourages them to take responsibility
  • Increases employee and staff engagement
  • Improves individual performance
  • Helps identify and develop high potential employees
  • Helps identify both organisational and individual strengths and development opportunities
  • Helps to motivate and empower individuals to excel
  • Demonstrates organisational commitment to human resource development

The following steps describe the basis of our coaching process:

  1. Identification of the desired leadership behaviours expected of the leaders. Leaders cannot be expected to change behaviour if they don’t have a clear understanding of what desired behaviour looks like.
  2. Collect feedback on performance. It is impossible to get evaluated on changed behaviour if there is not agreement on what behaviour needs to be changed!
  3. Reach agreement on key behaviours for change. We generally recommend picking 1-3 key areas for behavioural change with each client.  This helps ensure maximum attention to the most important behaviour.
  4. Review what has been learned with clients and help them develop an action plan. These plans need to come from them, not from us as coaches.  As a coach, the role is to help leaders get better at what they believe is most important – not to tell them what to change.

Coaching can be delivered in 1-hour coaching sessions over an agreed period (usually every month for 6 months) to support individuals.

“Fiona’s coaching provided an excellent basis from which I have taken some fundamental steps in my personal development. I have radically changed some of my perceptions and outlook, a process that I may not necessarily have undertaken at the rate Fiona delivered. I do not give recommendations lightly; however, I fully endorse Fiona to those considering coaching services”.
