I have worked with SPS for over 20 years providing bespoke training programmes and coaching to Leaders & Managers. I have now gone on to train and supervise in-house mentors to support women Leaders & Managers in their development within the organisation.

The Company

The Swiss Post Solutions Group is the leading provider of outsourced physical and digital mailrooms to both the private and public sectors and supports its clients with professional services and the implementation of innovative technology. The group is wholly owned by Swiss Post and has been established since 2000. With headquarters in Switzerland, the group has operations spanning Europe and the US, employing over 2500 staff across 300 locations.

The Business Situation

For SPS to continue to expand successfully SPS have identified the need to invest in both their existing managers and leaders as well as having a comprehensive succession plan in place for the next generation of leaders and managers. To meet the strategic growth plans, SPS provide training & development to all its Leaders and Managers supported by a mentoring programme.

The Approach

Mentoring Women Leaders

Mentoring is a talent program aimed at developing and retaining key talents in the organisation who show potential and aspiration for more senior roles. In the program, female employees are paired with more senior employees in the organisation, from different locations and functions. The purpose of the program is to focus on the employee’s, the mentee’s, long-term career and success at SPS. It is also a key program for enhancing internal talent pipeline for key mid-to-upwards positions.
Within the program the mentor is to support and guide their mentee by:

  • Giving advice on potential next career steps; what they could be and what’s required for them
  • Identifying development areas and plans; what skills, competencies and experiences are critical for success and how could they be trained/gained
  • Enabling self-reflection and providing encouragement and confidence in the mentee’s abilities and learning journey
  • Opening doors for the mentee; introducing them to other stakeholders, involving them in meetings and projects

FP Training train and support in-house mentors, providing supervision on a regular basis to ensure quality and needs of mentors and mentees are being met. FP Training has also taken on the role of Mentoring Programme Manager for Swiss Post Solutions.
